watching it all, watching it all
some people wait their entire lives to experience what I did in a weekend. nothing I say will come close to these past few days, and I owe it all to the people I spent them with. I cried a little, laughed a little, learned a little. most importantly I lived a little.
my one year anniversary with Rizan didn't turn out quiitte like he'd planned. for one thing we dropped everything and went to Desaru with my family, associate members and all. what can I say? I love moments like these, when my mother is actually spontaneous and tries to be a good sport.
at Desaru the beaches are clean, the sun is so bright you want to take off all your clothes and squeal like a kid all the way to the blue and vast ocean. I made sandcastles with my bare hands. my bare hands! sometimes they topple and I giggle, and I do it all over again because I want to. I love the sea. if I could be anywhere in the world I'd be right where I was a few days ago, with grains of sand in my hair and in between my fingers, where Amri can catch his hermit crabs, my sister can play with plastic cups, Rizan can skinny dip in peace and my parents can wait patiently in the shade. the only thing that's between the sky and the sea is you. it makes you feel humble, small, but it will never distract you from the beauty of everything natural.
later that night us kids took our boardgames and played at the hotel lobby. we played Taboo for about 4 hours, where I laughed so hard I almost peed in my pants. it was the girls versus the guys, and not like I'm the sort to brag or anything but we totally won.
my brother: aahh aaahh...something you do at night
amri: MASTURBATE!!

Rizan: HOPSCOTCH!!

by 3am we concluded that we won, because when you put the two stacks of cards together ours was way taller it's insulting to want to count. went to bed and made sure the sleeping arrangements were correct (hahaha) and I woke up today with a huge smile on my face.
the kids and I headed down to the beach again, but an emergency came up and we had to send Rizan back to Singapore as soon as possible. I love him and we've had a good year, and the fact that he's sporting enough to spend our anniversary with my family made me love him even more. I was worried for him, and when the bad news came the kids and I were sitting on the sand in the hot sun crowding around him. we were silent but it was comforting, and I knew if anything like this were to happen again, we'd be okay. my family is amazing. I know I sometimes say really silly things about them, but in all seriousness? they are the best people to grow up with.
