I remember casually suggesting we try roller-blading someday, and the moment Rizan protested I knew forcing would be a much better idea. so two days ago I dragged my unwilling and frightened boyfriend to East Coast where I made him put on some blades and whiz around the beach with me.
ooohhhh. what a bad mistake that was.
did I mention I've only bladed about once my whole life? I'm much more comfortable on the ice, and my blading day(s) started back in TKGS with the netballers, where I fell down 7 times- thrice on the pavement, thrice on the ramp, and once in the bushes (the lack of grace started young). needless to say it hurt alot, but I must've forgotten about the pain because I was so eager to try again. so upon reaching the kiosk my boyfriend and I gingerly took baby steps to the practising area with our blades, with me giving show-offs the dirty look and him suddenly finding the floor so interesting becayse he kept on staring at it the whole time. at one point I think he looked almost traumatised. sigh. I knew it was gonna be a long day.
AND IT WAS. after half an hour trying to get the hang of things, with Rizan being an excellent learner, we took our talents to the streets and smugly bladed past people along East Coast. so ha ha to us for being so cocky because we fell alotta times (damn the ramps I tell you. and the water on the pavement. and the bits of sand it's all their fault!) I couldn't help keeping scores so by the end of the session it was me: 2, Rizan: 4. he lost, but I think it's a matter of perspective since he had more points, hehe.
me: (trying to be a coach. well somebody had to) okay bend your knees, look forward LOOK FORWARD!
him: I am looking forward. I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO STOPPING!!
me: eh did you see that cat? so cute!
him: I can't I'm more interested in keeping my balance (or something like that) *stern face, wobbles awkwardly*
I love him for doing all these things with me. I heard we're visiting Ubin again, so hooray to us for being this adventurous. credits to the boy for being such a sport =]
