it's good to be home
my take on KL: there were too many things to do, too little time, too many old ladies to hang around with. I wonder why I can never shop properly there- the last 3 years each time I went to KL I came home with only new books to read. what a nerd. and you call yourself a traveller.
imagine a bus ride to KL with some of your favourite aunties and uncles. few kids were willing to come along in case they died of culture shock from seeing too many adults all at once. my sister and I took the plunge. mostly because we didn't mind the relatives. I love them, eventhough they sometimes slowed the journey down, literally- if it's time to get off the bus, they'd be first in line, which means it takes 15 minutes for the rest of us to wait for our turn to come. I say this with no malice because I really love my mother's sisters, really I genuinely do.
the engagement ceremony was pretty impressive. I suppose you can't expect any less if you're getting engaged to the son of an airline director. or something like that. my cousin looked gorgeous as ever. I had this feeling my sister and I were secretly envious of the couple, because we're 19 and 23 too and you don't see us getting hitched anytime soon. 'I can't imagine you getting engaged,' my brother says to me with a giggle. he is gay, and apparently very frank about things.
today I had 2 hours with Rizan at night so we had a quick dinner and he sent me home. cheap thrill: buy coca-cola mcfreezehoweveryoucallit (which suspiciously tasted like slurpee) and take turns getting brain-freeze. it was harder for me, and I tell him it's because I have a bigger brain. bigger brain = longer time to freeze.
he doesn't believe me.
sigh Christmas came and went (unless it's still Chrismas because there are 12 days and my true love gave to me a whole bunch of crap) which means the year is ending. it's been good. long and good and I can't wait for more.
