look what work's done to me.

I love my job! I love waking up in the morning, knowing I get to finally wear my dusty heels, walk around like some big shot when I'm only a wadyu call it...secretary? or something like that I just realised I'm not really sure what my position is haha. I love my colleagues (which just sounds so grown-up, compared to saying 'I love my classmates') and I think I'm addicted to working! because tomorrow I'm going to work overtime, just to sit at my desk for a bit longer and talk to the rest for a bit more. I actually dreaded lunchtime at first, because we all eat at different hours so most of the time I go down on my own. but the moment I bought my food I decided to just hope for the best and sit with some stranger and try to strike a conversation with them. and it works! people are friendlier than we think I suppose. today an Indian man joined me, and then some nyonya sat with us and we're talking like we've known one another for years.

I think I'm really lucky because I used to have this impression that the working world really sucks, made of manipulative people who backstab and suck up to their bosses just to get ahead of others. well if that's going on in my office, I haven't been able to sense it at all. you could say I'm still new and ignorant about politics, but why dampen my spirits and show your true colours! I'd rather not know, and instead sit in my little corner and mind my own business, not failing to let everyone know I'm just as efficient and that just because I'm the youngest, it doesn't make me a pushover.

aaahh the joys of working. I find myself not wanting to go home sometimes. like today. and Monday. and we've got such interesting personalities working at the firm everything's so exciting and refreshing! I'm starting to sound much like an ass, and I apologise for appearing too nauseatingly enthusiastic. it's just that I'd rather have a positive outlook towards this thing I'm gonna have to face every day for the next few months. makes life so much easier to deal with. Friday I'm having dinner with Ah Hui and that gives me more reason to work until after 6 cos she's coming down to Raffles!
